Jamarr LaVell Harkins, Jr., 13 months, of Superior, died Friday August 7, 2020 at Children's Minnesota Hospital, Minneapolis.

He was born June 25, 2019 in Minneapolis, son of Tayteaona Boykin and Jamarr Harkins.

Jamarr "Baby J" was very charismatic and was always being silly. He loved to make people smile and laugh. He was very sweet and never wanted to see anyone sad and would try to make everyone feel better. He gave off an energy that was electric, and contagious. You couldn't help but be happy while he was around. Baby J also loved to be recorded so he could be in the spotlight. Some of the movies he enjoyed were Despicable Me, and Ralph Breaks the Internet. His favorite toys were his "lovies" (stuffed animals) and all his toys that would light up and sing to him. Some things Baby J enjoyed eating most were chipotle, ice cream, French fries, and yogurt melts.

Survivors include his parents, Tayteaona Boykin and Jamarr Harkins, Superior; maternal grandmother, Angela (Patrick) Slaughter, Superior; maternal grandfather, Demetric (Jessika) Boykin, Superior; paternal grandmother, Janonne Flora Harkins, Chicago; and paternal grandfather, Duncan Gregory, Duluth, MN.

Visitation will be from 2 to 4 p.m. Sunday, August 23, 2020 at Downs Funeral Home, 1617 N. 19 ^th Street, Superior.

Should friends desire, the family wishes to donate new unopened toys to Children's Minnesota Hospital.
