Obituary

James "Jim" Emory Sackett, 91, of Foxboro and Danbury, WI, died Tuesday, November 24, 2020, at Gulf Coast Medical Center in Ft. Myers, FL.

He was born in Milaca, MN on September 23, 1929, the son of Lee and Della (Roscorla) Sackett.

During the Korean War he served 21 months active duty with the United States Army, 809 th Engineer Aviation Battalion.  His military service also included eight additional years with the National Guard.

Jim worked as a Special Deputy for the Douglas County Sheriff's Department starting in the early 1960s.  He later worked as a welder/boilermaker for Fraser Shipyard from 1964 until his retirement in 1991.  He was a proud member of the Boilermakers, Iron Ship Builders, Blacksmiths, Forgers & Helpers Union Local 117.

Jim was a valued member of the Tri-State Racing Association in its earliest years.  He was an incredibly talented artist and was especially proud of the murals he painted at St. William Catholic Church.  In his retirement, Jim wintered in Florida and spent his summers at the lake in Danbury.

James was preceded in death by his parents, his wife, Joann Grenier Sackett, and sisters Marginia Dodge, Eva Lee Ellison, and Rollie Strand.

Jim is survived by his partner of 20 years, Beverly Richmond, of Danbury, WI, daughters Della Marie (Stephen) Mackiewicz of Rice Lake, WI, and Teresa Ann (Edward) Flood of Bennett, WI, son James Emory (Lori) Sackett of Foxboro, WI, and his seven grandchildren and twelve great-grandchildren.

Visitation will be Wednesday, December 2, 2020 at 10:00 a.m. at St. William Catholic Church in Foxboro, WI.  A Mass of Christian Burial with Reverend Father Andrew Ricci as celebrant will follow at 11:00 a.m.

Burial will be in Summit Cemetery, Foxboro, with military honors accorded by the Richard I. Bong American Legion Post 435.

Pallbearers will be Joseph Warring, Erick Warring, Edward Flood, Jeremy Richmond, Ronald Wolff, and Stephen Mackiewicz.
