Obituary

James W. Ellis, 87, of Danbury and formerly of Superior, died Thursday, April 11, 2013, at his residence.

He was born February 26, 1926 in Superior, son of James and Myrtle (Mertz) Ellis.

Jim proudly served his country with the U.S. Army Air Corps during WWII.

As a master plumber, he owned E. & E. Plumbing and Heating in Superior.

His memberships included B.P.O.E. #403, Voyager Village, Ace Investment Club and served on the board of directors for the former Community Bank and Trust.

Jim loved to golf and won numerous golf trophies. He also enjoyed trapshooting and model airplanes.

Preceding him in death were his parents; first wife, Catherine in 1986; and sister, Gail Edwards.

Survivors include his wife, Nancy O'Brien Ellis; sons, James A. (Sally Jayne) Ellis, Minneapolis, Robert W. Ellis, Thomas M. (Evelyn) Ellis, and Mark R. (Marla) Ellis, all of Superior; daughter, Catherine M. Blankenship, Superior; 5 grandchildren; and 3 great-grandchildren.

Visitation will be from noon until the 2 p.m. service, Wednesday, April 17, 2013, at Downs Funeral Home, 1617 N. 19th Street, Superior. Reverend Charles Plaster, pastor of Concordia Lutheran Church, will officiate.

Active pallbearers will be James, Robert, Thomas and Mark Ellis, Gene O'Brien and Matt O'Brien. Honorary pallbearers will be Robert Downs and Rod Campbell.

Burial will be at Lake Nebagamon Cemetery, at a later date. Military rites will be accorded by the Richard I. Bong American Legion Post # 435.
