James G. Hammond, age 69, of Superior, died Wednesday July 22, 2026, at his residence.

He was born on December 7, 1956, the son of Betty (Olson) and George Hammond, Sr. in Rice Lake, WI.

James enjoyed coin collecting and doing stained glass projects. He especially loved all things outdoors, fishing, rock hunting, gardening, berry picking and going for walks.

He was preceded in death by his mother and father; his stepfather Frank Malec and his brother George A. Hammond, Jr.; also, by his brother -in-laws Jerry Kelleher and Darrell Mossberger.

James is remembered and survived by his children Amber Hammond of Duluth; Anthony Hammond of Solon Springs, Ashley Murphy of Duluth, Shadley Nelson of Bennett, Aaron Nelson of Superior; by his siblings Gerald “Gary” Hammond of Bennett, Kristine Kelleher of Eau Claire, Sharon (Bill) Laakkonen of Lexington, KY, Susan Mossberger of Superior and Marie Ross of Oakland, WI; by his grandchildren Fayth, Ryley and Austin; Also, by his special nephew Joshua Kelleher and niece Naomi Anderson, as well as other nieces, nephews and extended family.

A celebration of James’ Life will be held on Saturday August 8th, 2026, beginning at 2:00 pm at the Bennett Town Hall followed by a luncheon. Burial will be in the Bennett Cemetery.
