James "Jim" J. Cronin, 87, of South Range, died Wednesday, August 5, 2020 at Hennepin County Medical Center, Minneapolis, MN.

He was born August 1, 1933 in Superior, son of George and Catherine Cronin.

Jim was honorably discharged from the U.S. Air Force after serving in Korea from 1951 to 1953.

He retired as a lieutenant from the Superior Police Department in 1991, after 27 years of service. Jim also worked as an over the road truck driver with his wife, Sue.

Early in his life, Jim was an outstanding baseball player. He played for the Superior Blues and the Chicago Cubs. Some of his other interests included bowling, watching TV and spending time with his morning coffee group.

Preceding him in death were his parents; and wife, Sue in 1998.

Survivors include his son, Jerry Cronin, South Range; and grandsons, Liam and Cayllum Cronin, South Range.

A private interment will be held at a later date.
