James F. McKay, Sr., 78, lifelong resident of Superior, died Tuesday, March 11, 2014 at Essentia St. Mary's Hospital in Duluth.

James was born on Sept. 5, 1935, the son of Hugh and Violet McKay.

He was a local truck driver working for many years at Leamon Mercantile. He enjoyed camping and fishing and loved to have fun.

He was preceded in death by his parents, a sister, Marie and brother, Tom.

James is survived by his children, James (Deb) Jr. of Oliver, Marie Marksman of Superior, Marilyn Tremblay of Superior, Katherine Petersdorf of Superior and Ronald McKay of West Virginia; ten grandchildren and ten great-grandchildren; friend, Bonnie Mckay; brothers, Hugh, Bill and Jack; sisters, Kitty and Sis; and many nieces and nephews.

His memorial service will be held on Sunday, March 16 at 1:00 p.m. at Downs Funeral Home, corner of 19 ^th St. and Ogden Ave. Rev. Dan Stone will officiate. Visitation will begin one hour prior. Interment will be in Calvary Cemetery in the spring.
