James “Buck” E. Morris, 77, of Hawthorne, died Tuesday November 3, 2026, at his home.

James was born in Vanzant, Missouri on February 10, 1949, the son of Roy and Mahalia (Buchanan) Morris. He graduated from Dora High School.

Buck married Sandra Payne on January 17, 1969, and they celebrated 57 years of marriage.

He joined the United States Army and served during the Vietnam War. Buck worked at Fraser Shipyards in Superior for many years as a boilermaker and retired as a Foreman. He was a member of the local Boilermaker’s Union.

He enjoyed fishing, woodworking, and was always tinkering. He built his home with his two sons and help from other family members.

He was preceded in death by his parents.

Buck is survived by his wife, Sandy Morris; children, Jay Morris, Jim Morris, and Amanda Pfuhl; grandchildren, Kevin Morris and Chad Berg; and sister, Edith (Dwayne) Thornton.

Following Buck’s wishes, no services will be held.
