Obituary

James Edward Selleck, 72, of Superior, Wis. passed away Mon., Nov. 29, 2010 in St. Francis in the Park Health & Rehab. Center.

Jim was born in Superior on June 24, 1938.

He was a U. S. Air Force veteran having served for four years and then he enlisted in the U. S. Army where he served more then twenty years.

In 1998 he received his Master's Degree in Journalism from the University of Wisconsin-Superior.

He was a free lance photographer and reporter for newspapers in Duluth, Minn., Virginia, Minn. and the Superior Evening Telegram.

He was a charter member of Phillips, Wis. Moose Service Center No. 2261 and a life member of Superior Moose Lodge No. 606 of which he was very actively involved. He had held all officers' chairs in the Moose Lodge No. 606 and all of the officers' chairs in the Moose Legion No. 138. He also held the position of the Community Chairperson for the State of Wis., was the Past Pres. for District 8 and was honored to be a Past Deputy Supreme Governor for the State of Wis.

He served as Commander for the DAV for several years.

Jim always felt – "A STRANGER WAS SOMEONE HE JUST HADN'T MET YET". He enjoyed meeting and talking with everyone.

He was preceded in death by his father, James Wade Selleck on Sept. 23, 1993; his mother, Margaret Alice (Moran) Selleck on Nov. 22, 2010; an infant sister, Susan Rae Selleck in 1946; and his beloved dog, Sparky.

Jim is survived by a son, Jeff (Nicole) Selleck of Mulliken, Mich., two granddaughters, Caitlin and Elyse Selleck; a sister, Judith (Fred) Piper of Superior; a brother, David (Jolene) Selleck of Springbrook, Wis.; an aunt; and many nieces, nephews, great-nieces, great-nephews, cousins and great friends.

Visitation will be from 10:00 a.m. until the 11:00 a.m. Memorial Mass on Sat., May 7, 2011 in Cathedral Of Christ The King with Rev. Fr. Andrew P. Ricci as Celebrant. Committal prayers will be in Veteran's Memorial Park at Greenwood Cemetery followed by a Moose Memorial Service. Military honors will then be accorded by the Richard I. Bong American Legion Post No. 435.

A reception to celebrate Jim's life will be held at the Billings Park Civic Center, 3903 N. 18th St.
