Obituary

James Timothy "Tim" Schmid, 53, a lifelong Superior resident, died Thurs., Oct. 18, 2012 in Essentia-St. Mary's Medical Center, Duluth.

He was born to Lorraine (Posivio) and James Schmid on Oct. 22, 1959.

For the past 23 years he was employed by the city of Superior as a foreman for construction maintenance.

Tim's heart extended to all his family as a husband, son, father, grandfather, uncle and cousin. He excelled as a grandfather and uncle by showering them with love and support, as well as teaching his nieces and nephews anything from hunting to life's lessons.

Tim was an avid outdoorsman. He was most comfortable out in the country where he could hunt for grouse, deer and other game. He often went to Alaska to hunt with family and friends. In his spare time he loved to do woodworking. He was a member of the Douglas County Fish and Game.

He is survived by his wife, Kathi "Peachie" (Kimmes); his children, Kevin J. (Natasha) of Foxboro, Wis. and Stacy L. Schmid of Superior; and he loved being a Grandpa to Elizabeth, Jace and James. He is also survived by his mother, Lorraine Schmid; two brothers, Larry (Brenda) Schmid of Hastings, Minn. and John (Tammy) Schmid of Cloquet, Minn; three sisters, Marie (Stan) Spaeth of Bloomer, Wis., Deborah (Jerry) Nikstad of Foxboro, Wis. and Diane (Tim) Meyer of Sioux Falls, S. D.; three sisters-in-law, Julie and Mary Kimmes and Lori Buttrick; and three brothers-in-law, Tommy (Michelle) Kimmes, Bob (Chrys) Johnson and Peter Kimmes.

Tim was preceded in death by his father, James and brothers-in-law, Joe and Scott Kimmes.

Visitation will be in Downs Funeral Home on Sunday, the 21st from 5:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. His memorial service will be at Darrow Road Wesleyan Church on Mon., Oct. 22nd at 1:00 p.m. with Pastor Mark A. Holmes officiating.

In lieu of flowers a scholarship fund will be established for his grandchildren.
