Janet M. Gondik, 89, lifelong Superior resident, died on Wednesday February 18, 2026, at her residence.

Janet was born on January 7, 1937, in Superior, WI to Joseph and Ethel (Palm) Gunski. She graduated from Superior East High School with the class of 1955

She worked as a bookkeeper for C&G enterprises for many years.

Janet married Richard Gondik, Sr. on December 22, 1972, in Superior and they celebrated forty-four years of marriage before his passing in January of 2017.

She loved reading, working in the yard, and was an animal lover.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Richard; her parents and son, Ricky Simensen; and great-grandson, James Kauther.

Janet is survived by her five children, Roxanne (Joe) Blackwell, Rick Gondik, Jr., Ricky Simensen, Kim (Paul) Osterlund and Terry (Melissa) Gondik; 8 grandchildren, Jessica, Danielle, Derek, Garrett, Jacob, Jenna, Chad, and Heidi; and her great-grandchildren.

Visitation will be on Monday, February 23rd from 10:00 a.m. until the 11:00 a.m. funeral service at Downs Life Celebration Center, 1902 N 34th St., with Gary Banker as officiant.

Private family burial will be in St. Francis Cemetery at a later date.
