Janis Kay (Mikelson) Latona, 71, passed away peacefully in her sleep on Thursday October 24, 2024, at the Kaiser Sacramento Hospital.  With her was her husband Lee, son Richard and daughter-in-law Alessandra.

Janis was born in Superior, WI on Jan. 3, 1953.  She and her family moved to Rancho Cordova, CA, where she grew up.  Janis graduated Cordova High School and went on to earn a BA in Business Administration.  Janis worked for the state of California where she retired as a Tax Administrator II in 2012 after 37 years.

Janis was preceded in death by her mother, Betty (Nelson) Mikelson; her father, Willard 'Mike' Mikelson; and her sister, Kathleen (Auvie) Shariff.

Janis is survived by her husband of 18 years, Lee; brother, Bill; daughter, Kris; and sons, Richard, Joe, Michael and Ryan.  Janis is the proud grandmother to six beautiful grandchildren, Jordan, Paige, Daniel, Peyton, Emma & Harper.

Visitation will be on Friday, Nov. 8th from 11:00 a.m. until the Noon funeral service at Downs Life Celebration Center, 1902 N 34th St., with Pastor David Weber as officiant. Burial will be in Greenwood Cemetery.
