Jason M. Gates, 26, of Superior, died Sunday, May 14, 2017, in a motor vehicle accident near Kinney, Minnesota.

He was born October 25, 1990, in Duluth, son of Mechelle A. (Gates) and Eric Bentley.

Jason worked as a foreman at Bayside Recycling, Duluth.

He honorably served his country with the U.S. Army.

Some of his interests were hockey, hunting, fishing, and cheering for the UMD Bulldogs and the Pittsburgh Penguins; however, his greatest love was spending time with his son, Kameron.

Survivors include his son, Kameron Thomas Gates; parents, Mechelle A. Nelson and Eric Bentley; brother, Dylan Nelson; sisters, Tristen Jones and Makayla Nelson; maternal grandparents, Sandra Gates and Greg Gates; paternal grandparents, Judy Vukelich and Steven Bentley; aunt, Sarah Banks; special family members, Michael and Dawn Marie Jones; many other aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews and cousins.

Visitation will be from 10 until the 11 a.m. service Monday, May 22, 2017, at Downs Funeral Home, 1617 N. 19 ^th Street, Superior. Reverend Father Andrew Ricci will officiate.

Interment will be held at a later date, with military honors, at Greenwood Cemetery, Superior.
