In loving memory of Judith (Burgraff) Katzmark

Judy, a cherished mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother, passed away peacefully on August 27, 2026, surrounded by her family. Born on July 25, 1945, in Superior, Wisconsin, she was the beloved daughter of Irving and Elsie Burgraff of South Superior.

Judy was affectionately known as “Honey” to those close to her. She lived a life rich in love, laughter, and dedication. She was preceded in death by her parents; her brother, Bruce; her sisters, Rose Marie, Glorianne, and Pauline; and her devoted husband, Richard L. Katzmark.

Judy and Rick shared a deep and enduring love, having married in 1978. Together, they owned and operated R & J Sunnyside Sausage, a local treasure where they butchered meat for local farmers and produced a variety of smoked meats and sausages, particularly enjoyed by deer hunters. Their business was a reflection of their hard work and commitment to their community.

Judy’s home was always filled with life. She had a green thumb and surrounded herself with plants that thrived under her care. Her passion for “fixer-upper” projects around the house was well admired, and she found great joy in yard work, embracing the outdoors with enthusiasm. She also had a passion for knitting, sewing, and creating memorable items for family and friends.

Her greatest joy came from her family. She is survived by her children, Deborah Katzmark, Jennifer (Chad) Sisko, and Jonathan Katzmark; grandchildren, Logan and Brenden Urness, Tori and Matthew Sisko; and her great-grandson Cayden. She is also survived by her stepchildren, Scott and Cheryl Katzmark, Michael Katzmark, and Theresa Katzmark; their children and grandchildren; and several cherished nieces and nephews. She loved spending time with family and creating memories that will be cherished forever.

Judy will be dearly missed, yet her spirit will continue to inspire all who knew her. Her legacy of love and dedication to family will be remembered for generations to come.

The family extends their heartfelt gratitude to the Essentia Hospice Care team and the Dove Health Care team for their compassionate support.

A private family burial will be held at Greenwood Cemetery, and a celebration of life will be held at the Log Cabin on Monday, August 31, from 5–7 p.m.

In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests that donations be made in her honor to the Richard I. Bong Veterans Historical Center in Superior, Wisconsin.
