Jean R.
Kioski
April 27, 1952 – February 14, 2021
Jean R. Kioski, 68, of Superior, died Sunday February 14, 2021 at Solvay Hospice House, Duluth.
She was born April 27, 1952 in Marshfield, WI, daughter of Harry and Gertrude (Barts) Bungert.
Jean attended NCTC in Wausau and was employed by the college following graduation. That is where she met her future husband, Jim Kioski, and they moved to Traverse City, Michigan and were married there January 11, 1985.
After moving to Superior, she was employed by the Department of Natural Resources. After a lengthy tenure with the D.N.R., she decided to move to private industry being employed at BendTec, Inc., Duluth.
Her love for animals eventually led her to be involved with the Humane Society of Douglas County, first as a volunteer and moving up to being on the board of directors. She worked tirelessly to help in the funding for a much-needed new shelter facility.
She loved a long walk with the sun on her face and a dog on her side. Jean enjoyed shopping, lunch dates with girlfriends, and spending time at the Montana condo with the mountain views.
Her infectious smile and positive attitude will always be part of her memory.
Preceding her in death were her parents, Harry and Gertrude Bungert.
In addition to her husband of over 35 years, James Kioski, Jean is survived by her sister, Pat (Dale) Augustine, Athens, WI; niece, Terri Walpole, Superior; nephew, Tracy Augustine, Wausau, WI; and numerous grandnieces and grandnephews.
