Jean Kay Tansill, 88 of Poplar, WI, died with her family by her side on Monday, November 11, 2024 at Essentia St. Mary's Medical Center in Duluth, MN.
Jean was born January 10, 1936, to Martin and Violet (Wick) Christopherson in Superior, WI. She graduated in 1953 from Central High School in Superior, WI. Jean married Charles Tansill April 10, 1980, in Grand Rapids, MN.
Jean attained her Master of Education from St. Scholastica in 1997. She was employed as a Junior High School special education teacher primarily working in Grand Rapids, MN, and Itasca County.
Jean enjoyed playing the piano, accordion and listening to classic music. She loved the outdoors feeding the birds, animals or just enjoying the day. Jean was passionate about gardening both flowers and vegetables, her favorite flower were peonies.
She enjoyed travelling many different places with her husband Charles. Jean had a strong faith and enjoyed singing in the church choir over the years.
Jean was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Charles; her son, Thomas Rich and her brother, Marty Christopherson and Ronald Erickson.
Survivors include her children, Toni Dobson, Judy Rich, Sue Rich, Audrey Rich and Randey (Donna) Rich; 12 grandchildren, 10 great grandchildren; sisters, Kristeen Johnson and Clara Lynn Smith; and numerous nieces and nephews.
A Private family service will be held at a later date. Inurnment in Ft. Snelling National Cemetery.
