Jeannette L. McGraw, 89, of Superior, Wis. died Sunday, December 26, 2010 at Essentia Health, Duluth, Minn.
She was born June 20, 1921 in Superior, daughter of Agnes (Michie) and John Geddert. She married Ralph McGraw on June 29, 1939, at Hammond Avenue Presbyterian Church and they shared sixty five years together.
Jeannette was a member of United Presbyterian Church. She was a lifetime member of PTA and PTA Council, a member of Degree of Honor # 22, Superior Douglas County Senior Center, their Crafty Ladies, RSVP, the former Kazoo Kids Band, as well as Girl Scouts and Cub Scouts.
Jeannette could be counted on to support anyone who was in need. She loved to make and give cards to her friends and family. Her grandchildren are going to miss the apple butter she made every fall. When Jeannette was 84, she learned how to knit and wove her first blanket. She was always willing to go to a workshop to learn something new. She usually had a puzzle going, a book to read, and she enjoyed many bible studies at church.
Preceding her in death were her parents; husband, Ralph in 2004; daughter, Sandra in 1944; and sisters, Harriet Soulier, Dorothy Wlodarski, Viola Geddert and Mary Garcia.
Survivors include her daughters, Annette (Roland) Mills, Baxter, MN, Mary Peterson, Kathy Gayken and Pam (Fred Koch) McGraw, all of Superior; son, Ralph "Bill" McGraw, Woodbury, MN; 17 grandchildren; 32 great-grandchildren; 10 great-great-grandchildren; and several nieces, nephews and cousins.
The visitation will be from 5 to 7 p.m. Wednesday, December 29, 2010 at United Presbyterian Church, Superior, and will resume at the church from 10 until the 11 a.m. service Thursday, with Reverend Joel Huenemann officiating.
Escorting Jeannette from the church her final time will be: Ralph McGraw, Hope Bonar, Kelly McGraw, Stacy Peterson, Melinda Gayken and Bill Barthen.
Immediately following the service, everyone is invited to join the family for a luncheon that will be served in the church fellowship hall.
The committal service at Greenwood Cemetery will be held at a later date.
