Obituary

Jeffrey George Winter, 44, passed away peacefully on January 27, 2026, at his home in Superior WI, surrounded by his wife and children, after a short battle with Metastatic Melanoma. He was the deeply beloved husband of Jennifer Winter, and together they shared 10 beautiful years, 7 of those married.

Born in Superior, Jeff was the son of Paula and George Winter. He graduated from high school in Park Rapids, MN, in 2000, and went on to study Carpentry at Bemidji Technical College. In his earlier years Jeff worked in various roles at companies such as J&B Foods, Dorset Café, and Bemidji Walmart. He later built his career as a CNC Machinist, working at Team Industries, Dingwells, Feradyne, Genesis, And most recently Bendtec. Prior to Bendtec he spent several years working in carpentry alongside his father-in-law at the family-owned business, Landrith & Son Construction.

Jeff was a man of many hobbies and always kept himself busy with projects. He loved maintaining a clean-cut yard, complete with landscaping that he'd spend hours perfecting. He took pride in his house and spent years crafting it into the home he envisioned. He spent his free time soaking up moments with his family; especially cherished were his times with his children and grandchildren. He took such pride and joy in being a dad to Ethan, even during times of struggle he prioritized his relationship with his son. When he met Jen and her three children, he never hesitated to take them in as his own. His love and his heart was never split, but instead grew to encompass the love he felt for each of his children. He also enjoyed attending concerts with his brother Troy, puzzling, collecting baseball cards, and spending summer days out at the cabin with family.

Jeff will be remembered not only for his own big smile, but for the smiles he left with everyone he met. He loved to make people laugh and always knew how to lighten the mood when things felt heavy; even in the end, he never lost his sense of humor. He loved his roles as a husband, dad, and papa like no other. He truly thrived as a papa and shared an especially special bond with his grandbabies.

He is survived by his parents, Paula Winter of Spooner, WI, and George (Cheryl) Winter of Superior; his wife, Jennifer Winter of Superior, and their four children Ethan (Geena Noonan) Winter of Superior, Felicity (Beau) Evanson of Poplar, WI, Jason (Kaili Haller) Byrd Jr., and Olivia (Anthony Leikvoll) Byrd, both of Superior. He is also survived by his grandchildren, Marshall and Artem Evanson, and Hazel Byrd; siblings, Paul Winter of Hudson, WI, Gina (Jason) Johnson of Andover, MN, and Troy (Megan) Winter of Osseo, MN; numerous step-siblings, nieces, nephews, and cousins; and his beloved fur babies, Gizmo and Molly.

He was preceded in death by his grandparents and several cousins.
