Jerome P. 'Jerry' Fair
After a long courageous battle with many illnesses, Jerry passed away peacefully holding the hands of his wife, Mary Ann, on June 1, 2016 at Essentia-St. Mary's Duluth.
Jerry was born on February 1, 1937 in Superior to Gertrude (Maki) and Peter Fair.
He had many hobbies throughout his life. One of his favorites was fishing the many rivers for walleyes, salmon, and trout. His favorite river was the Brule, where he would catch many steelhead trout and bring them home to his wife to bake and share with the whole family. He enjoyed going golfing in Wisconsin and Arizona. He scored a hole-in-one at Nemadji Golf Course his first time golfing. Known as the "Pickle King", Jerry loved growing cucumbers and making pickles for all to enjoy.
During the winter Jerry and his wife would like to get away from Superior's weather and travel to Lake Havasu, Arizona. Out there, he became an avid member of the Gold Hunting Club. He found quite a bit of gold including some nuggets that he had jewelry made out of for his family.
He married Mary Ann DeMeyer on October 27th, 1956 and they would have been celebrating their 60th anniversary this fall. Jerry loved to care for his wife and children. Together, he and Mary Ann took occasional trips to the casino to have a little fun.
He started working at the age of 18 as a lineman with Wisconsin Bell and worked his entire career in the telephone industry until his retirement.
He served with the Naval Reserve.
