Joan B. Izzard, 77, of Superior, died Sunday, August 11, 2013 at St. Luke's Hospice in Duluth
Joan was born on Sept. 5, 1935 the daughter of Robert and Beatrice Bartley.
She had worked as a Douglas County Jailor for 20 years. She was a member of the Wisconsin Professional Police Association, Fraternal Order of Police, Holy Assumption Catholic Church, Cooper School PTA and was a Cub Scout Leader. She was also involved in Jail Ministry and the library.
Joan was preceded in death by her parents and a brother, James Bartley.
She is survived by her husband, James; two sons, Mike (Kathy) Izzard of Superior and Brad (Kim) Izzard of Superior; grandchildren, Matt (Lindsay), Jordan (Scott), Katie, Justin, Heather (Ryan), Sara (Michael) and Chad (Holly); eleven great-grandchildren; two sisters, Marcia (Bobby) Price of Middleton, Wis., Kathy (Al) Preston of Waupun, Wis.; numerous nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles and cousins.
Her visitation will begin at 10 a.m. until the 11 a.m. Mass of Christian Burial on Fri. Aug. 16th at Holy Assumption Catholic Church with Rev. Fr. Ronald Olson as celebrant. Interment will be in Greenwood Cemetery.
Pallbearers will be, Matt, Justin and Chad Izzard, Michael Pfankuch, Ryan Anderson and Scott Krisak.
Downs Funeral Home is assisting the family with arrangements.
