Joan M. Sweeney, 85, of Superior, died Friday, July 15, 2022, at Essentia Health-St. Mary's Medical Center, Duluth.

She was born June 21, 1937, in Superior, daughter of Curtis and Margaret (Kulus) Beebe.

Joan's work history started as an office manager at the Giesen Clinic, then the Superior Clinic and retiring from Essentia Health, where she continued to volunteer for many years.

She enjoyed playing cards and belonged to various card clubs over the years. Yes, playing cards was an interest of hers, but her greatest love was spending time with her grandchildren.

Preceding her in death were her mother, Margaret Reinkall and her husband Charlie; husband, James C. Sweeney, Jr., in 2013; and brother, Gene Beebe.

Survivors include her son, Kevin (Don Cleasby) Sweeney, Bagley, WI; daughters, Pamela (Richard) Johnholtz, Oliver, Peggy Schowalter, Superior, and Janette McDonald, Superior; grandchildren, Ashley (Chris) Riddle, Alexis Schowalter, Spencer McDonald and Mason McDonald; brothers, Jim (Judy) Beebe, Superior, Chet (Cathy) Beebe, Superior, and Ken (Holly) Beebe, Copperas Cove,TX; sister-in-law, Char Beebe, Winter Park, FL; and nieces and nephews.

Visitation will be from 10 until the 11 a.m. service Saturday, July 30, 2022, at Downs Funeral Home, 1617 N. 19 ^th Street, Superior. Reverend Father James Tobolski will officiate.

Burial will be in Calvary Cemetery, Superior.
