Obituary

John Arne Anunti was born on November 20, 1922 in Washburn, Wisconsin to Mary and Arne Anunti. He served in the Merchant Marine and US Army during World War II. John was stationed in Casablanca, Morocco for one year after the war ended. In 1950 John married Frances Luedtke.

John spent his youth in Maple Wisconsin residing there until 1950. From 1950 through 1995 he lived in Superior Wisconsin. On November 10 of 1950 Frances gave birth to their son John Robert Anunti and later on October 22, 1955 to their second child, a daughter, Debra Eileen Anunti. In 1995 John and Frances moved to Concord California where they resided at the time of John's passing.

From 1949 through 1969 John worked for Central Cooperatives and later for Twin Ports Grocery. For several years he worked as a truck driver for Central Cooperatives delivering groceries throughout Wisconsin, Minnesota and Upper Michigan. Often he would share his reflections on the beauty found while trekking across the rural landscape of the upper mid-west, embracing the experience regardless of road conditions or challenges bought on by hazardous snowstorms. While at Twin Ports Grocery he worked as a warehouse and maintenance man. He enjoyed his responsibilies working as a mechanic and was well liked by his coworkers. After retiring he continued his friendships and enjoyed monthly coffee sessions with them.

In his personal life John loved to tinker and shared this enthusiasm with his children. As a devoted father he often engaged them in projects such as the construction of a motorized go cart and assemblage of various electronic models. Also athletic, he shared with them his love of skiing in the woods of Maple Wisconsin, swimming in Lake Superior and playing tennis. He was active in his son's Boy Scouts and helped with this daughter's Girl Scouts projects. Later in life he enjoyed playing cribbage with his daughter and going to his great grandsons Little League games.

After retiring John and his wife Frances devoted several years to working for the Humane Society of Douglas County, located near Superior, Wisconsin.

John was preceded in death by his brother Victor Anunti and sister Sylvia Androfski. He is survived by his wife Frances, son John, daughter Debra, granddaughter Ursula, and four great grandchildren, Joyful Pate, Christopher Anunti, Joseph Anunti, Robbie Schoenhiet and nephews Joseph Androfski, Dennis Deeds, and a niece Deedra Kocon.

On March 3, 2011 John passed away suddenly while he was enjoying tinkering in the yard.
