John Ward Bergren, age 69, of Superior, passed away June 5th, 2026, after a short but courageous fight with Cancer.
John was born August 10th, 1956, in Superior to Ward and Doris (Deterling) Bergren. While he was growing up, he loved to work on cars and make things run. John graduated from Northwestern High School and after graduation he enlisted in the Army National Guard. During his enlistment he served in Germany. Upon returning home, he married the mother of his 3 boys. He was considered a jack of many trades. But his heart was in welding and he was a master.
He loved to watch the Green Bay Packers on Sunday, as well as western movies, and he loved being outside, doing anything. John was a father, grandfather, brother and friend. He was one of those people that would give you the shirt off his back. A quote from someone who knew him well: “HE WAS A GOOD MAN.”
He is preceded in death by his parents Ward and Doris Bergren and brother Ward Theodore Bergren, nephew Thomas Beeksma.
John is survived by his sons Brett David Bergren, Billings, Montana; Jeremy John Ward (Chrisy) Bergren, Vernonia, Oregon: Logan Scott Bergren, Billings, Montana; Sisters Melody (Daune)Beeksma, Iron River WI; Lauri (Curtis)Callaway, Hawthorne, WI; Brother David (Charmain) Bergren, Hermantown, MN. By his 9 grandchildren, 6 nieces and nephews as well as additional extended family. Also by his partner of 22yrs. Cathy Lambert.
A Celebration of John’s Life will be held June 20th, 2026, From 1:00 pm until 4:00 pm at the Belgian Club, 3931 E 2nd St, Superior. The family would invite attendees to bring any photos and memories you have to share with family and friends.
