Obituary

John J. Boyer Jr. 63, of Superior died December 23, 2011 in Golden Living Center.

He was born December 24, 1947 in Superior and was a longtime resident.

He was a member of V.F.W, the Eagles and was a member of the Fond du Lac Band of Chippewa.

John was an Army veteran of the Vietnam War having been awarded the Bronze Star and the Purple Heart.

John was employed as a sign maker by various sign companies.

He is survived by his siblings, Rose Ann (Bruce) Brown of Superior, Jean (Stanley) Longshore of Phoenix, AZ, Carolyn Dalbec of Superior, Paul Raunio of Lake Nebagamon, Joanne (Tim) Proffit of Superior, Bill Raunio of Superior, Robert (Kelly) Raunio also of Superior, and Larry Jo Boyer; many nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews.

He was preceded in death by his mother and step-father, Rose and George Raunio; his father, John Boyer; a brother, Joel "Buster" Boyer; and a great niece, Nichole.

A Memorial service will be held on Tuesday December 27, in the Downs Funeral Home, 19th & Ogden, at 10:30 a.m. with Major Rosemary Mattson officiating. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service.

Military Honors will be accorded by Richard I Bong post #435 American Legion.

In lieu of flowers if friends so desire memorials can be made to the Superior animal shelter.

The family wishes to thank the Golden Living Center staff for their love and concern. They were truly John's second family.
