John "Jack" F. Wohlwend, 79, of Foxboro, died Tuesday, January 6, 2015, in the Town of Summit, Wisconsin.
He was born September 15, 1935, in Superior, son of John E. and Blanche (Fuller) Wohlwend.
Jack was honorably discharged from the U.S. Army, after serving in the 1950's.
After teaching many years in Duluth at Washington, Morgan Park and Ordean schools, he became assistant principal at Duluth East High School then Duluth Central High School, where he retired in 1993.
Jack's passion in life was his farm. White Winds Farm raised cattle, horses, Christmas trees and poultry. Organic gardening was a source of pride for him. He also enjoyed hunting, fishing, scuba diving and making maple syrup as a family tradition.
Preceding him in death were his parents; and grandson, Isaiah.
Survivors include his wife, Angela; daughters, Wanda E. Brandt, Jill L. (Kerry Solem) Wohlwend, and Wendy J. Wohlwend, all of Duluth, Lynn L. Wohlwend, Superior, and Jenna L. (Ryan) Madsen, Foxboro; sons, Matthew R. Black, St. Cloud, MN, John G. Wohlwend, Foxboro, Luke F. Wohlwend, Duluth, and Zachary J. Wohlwend, Superior; 10 grandchildren; a great-granddaughter; sister, Sharon E. Olson, Superior; brother, Ronald D. Wohlwend, Superior; and several nieces and nephews.
Visitation will be from 10 until the 11 a.m. service, Tuesday, January 13, 2015, at Downs Funeral Home, 1617 N. 19th Street, Superior, with Reverend Mark A. Holmes officiating.
