John J. "Jack" Kantarik, 75, of South Range, died Friday, October 4, 2013 at Miller-Dwan Medical Center, Duluth.
He was born October 13, 1937 in Superior, son of John and Catherine (Ferfon) Kantarik.
Jack proudly served his country with the U.S. Army National Guard.
For many decades Jack worked as a barber in Superior and was a co-owner of Jack and Randy's Barber Shop.
He was a member of St. Francis Xavier Catholic Church, Superior Moose Family Center, the Barbers Union and the Superior Curling Club.
Preceding him in death were his parents; wife, Matty Kay in 2010; and brother-in-law, Michael Subjek.
Survivors include his step-daughters, Cindy (Dan) Telega, Sandy Wittke, and Patti (Roger) Stalvig, all of Superior; step-son, Jay (Jamie) Stark, Sparta, WI; 12 grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; brother, Jim (Marilyn) Kantarik, Superior; sisters, Carole (Bob) Nordness, Superior, and Kathy (Carl) Tabbert, LaCrosse, WI; and several nieces, nephews, grandnieces and grandnephews.
Visitation will be from 10 until the 11 a.m. Mass of Christian Burial, Wednesday, October 9, 2013 at St. Francis Xavier Catholic Church. The celebrant will be Reverend Father Ronald Olson.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to St. Francis Xavier Catholic Church.
Downs Funeral Home, 1617 N. 19th Street, Superior, is assisting the family with arrangements.
