John M. 'Hook' Johnson, 65, of Superior, died Tuesday, April 4, 2017, at his home.

He was born in Ashland, WI, on February 10, 1952, the son of Kenneth and Marjorie Johnson.

John graduated from East High School in Duluth.  He took courses after high school and became a licensed chef.  John worked at Hennessey's Reception Hall and ICO Gas Station.

He married Susan Kay Zunker in May 1977, and they would have celebrated their 40 ^th anniversary this may.

John enjoyed hunting, golfing, and bowling.  He loved all animals, especially his dog, Lucy Bear.

He is preceded in death by his parents.

John is survived by his wife, Susan; sister, Marjorie Johnson, Superior; beloved dog, Lucy Bear; and many extended family.

His visitation will be on Saturday, April 8, from 10:00 until the 11:00 a.m. memorial service at Downs Funeral Home, 1617 N 19 ^th Street.  Pastor Chad Cracraft of House of Hope Church officiating.
