John "Jack" L. White, 90, of Superior, died Thursday, January 27, 2011 at St. Mary's Hospice in Duluth.
John was born in Cedarville, Mich. on Feb. 14, 1920
He had worked for the Great Northern Railroad and for many years as a Longshoreman. He was a member of Darrow Road Wesleyan Church and the International Longshoremen's Association.
John enjoyed woodworking, ice fishing, traveling, camping and playing cribbage. Most important to him was spending time with his family and friends.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Emma (Sackett) on Dec. 25, 1991; a son, William; great-grandchildren, Jenna and Crystal Rose; and brothers and sisters, Helen, Bill, Russell, Margaret, Ruth, Jim and Stanley
John is survived by his daughter, Carol Higgins of Superior; daughter-in-law, Jan White of Superior; grandchildren, Robin (Willy) Silvernale of Foxboro, Roland John (Sharon) Higgins of Florida, Wendy White of Superior, Mary White of Duluth, Dawn (Ron) Westberg of Wyoming, Minn., and Jim (Missy) Felien of Duluth; great-grandchildren, Joshua (Molly) Silvernale, Aaron (Molly) Silvernale, Elizabeth Silvernale, Carl, Emily, Chloe and Erik Higgins, Jennifer Amys, Luke Engelbrektson, Kayla Felien, and Cody and Ishanita White; great-great-grandchildren, William, Mackenzie, Gavin, and Wyatt; a sister, Virginia; and many nieces and nephews.
His funeral service will be held on Sat., Jan. 29, at 3:00 p.m. at Darrow Road Wesleyan Church. Rev. Mark A. Holmes and Rev. Benjamin Drown will co-officiate. Visitation will begin one hour prior. Interment will be in Bennett Lutheran Cemetery in the spring.
If desired, memorials may be made to the Child Evangelism Fellowship, the Six Seasons Motorcycles or Darrow Road Church.
