Obituary

John E. Lundeen, 80, of Poplar, passed away peacefully at home surrounded by his loving family after a long battle with multiple autoimmune diseases on Sunday, February 22, 2026, in the same home he raised his daughters and welcomed his grandchildren.

John was born in Superior on July 11, 1945, the son of Lawrence and Mary (Wnek) Lundeen. He graduated from Northwestern High School with the Class of 1963.

He began his career with Wisconsin Bell Telephone in 1969, which later became AT&T, retiring in 1994. Retirement did not slow him down. With no project being too big or too small he remained active in construction projects, cabinet & furniture making, and tending to his apple orchard.  In his own words he was a "Jack of all trades, but master of none".  He continued his lifelong love of logging; the woods grounded him and were a place of peace and reflection throughout his life.  He loved to travel, finding hidden gems throughout the states with the love of his life Yvonne by his side.

John was always helping others.  He had an infectious sense of humor, easy smile and carried an unwavering positive attitude.  He lit up a room and brought comfort simply through his steady presence.  He genuinely valued family and what it meant to be a part of a close-knit community, sharing his time and talents generously up until the very end.   Above all, his greatest pride and joy was his family, especially his best friend and loving wife of 58 years, Yvonne. He lived for his children and grandchildren, and made sure he met his newest great-granddaughter, Adelyn, who was born just days before his passing.

John was preceded in death by his parents; and siblings, Donald (Evelyn) Lundeen, Lawrence Lundeen, Jr., Carol (Glen) Lindahl, and Roger Lundeen.

John is survived by his wife, Yvonne; daughters, Shannon (Don) Lindsey, Brenda (Mark) Granquist, and Traci (Rich) Sawyer; grandchildren, Taylor (Sam) Noeldner, Allie (Tyler) Olson, Ryan Granquist, Kyle (Maura) Granquist, and Gabrielle, Richard, Hannah, Danielle, and Johnathan Sawyer; great-grandchildren, Rosko Olson and Adelyn Noeldner; brothers, James (Sue) Lundeen and Joe (Betty) Lundeen; along with many nieces, nephews, and extended family members.

In honor of John's wishes, no formal service will be held. A private family celebration of life will take place at a later date.
