Obituary

John O. “Johnny Otto” Larson, age 76, of Superior, passed away on Thursday May 21, 2026, in Essentia St. Mary’s Hospital, Duluth.

John was born on September 1, 1949, the son of Margaret (Schwentkofske) and Leo Larson in Superior. He would graduate from Cathedral High School with the class of 1967 and would continue his education from the University of Wisconsin Superior graduating with his Bachelor of Science Degree in 1973. John had worked as an orderly at the former Parkland Health Facility.

He enjoyed oil painting and making stained glass art. John also loved putting together puzzles and gardening.

He was preceded in death by his parents and his siblings, Larry, JoAnn and Nancy. Also by his sister-in-law, Diane and his brother-in-law, Robert.

John is survived by his sister Jeanette (Bobby Vassar)Tinker; by his nieces and nephews Tiimothy (Marie) Van Overmeiren, Michael (Lori) VanOvermeiren, Gary (Melissa) Van Overmeiren, Joe (Karla) Van Overmeiren, Steve Larson, Carrie (Jason) Keup, Beth (Lee) Olson, Shannon (Dave) Bolton , Ryan Duffany, Scott (Julie) Duffany, Adrian Gray. Brother-in-law, James Van Overmeiren. Also by many great nieces and nephews.

Memorials may be made to Cathedral School, St. Jude Children's Research Hospital or United Service Organizations.

Visitation will be held on Tuesday June 2nd from 10:00 a.m. until the 11:00 a.m. Mass at Cathedral of Christ the King, 1111 Belknap Street. with Fr. Andrew Ricci as celebrant. Inurnment in Calvary Cemetery, Superior.
