John Patrick O'Neill, Sr., 86, of Superior, WI died Tuesday, October 19, 2010 in the Golden Living Center.

He was born September 22, 1924 in Cady Township in St. Croix County, WI to William Edmund and Beatrice Frances (Williams) O'Neill.

He was a Navy veteran of WW II and was a lifetime member of the Disabled American Veterans.

John graduated from Oklahoma State University with a Bachelor of Science degree in Animal Husbandry.

He was in sales management for the Oelwein Chemical Co.

John loved his family, his faith and his country. He was an avid Packer fan and he enjoyed conversing with people.

He is lovingly remembered by his wife of nearly sixty-two years, the former Eva Joyce Warhol; a daughter, Kathleen D. (James) Downing of Britt, MN; four sons, Steven A. (Geralyn) of Rosemont, MN, J. Patrick Jr. (Theresa) of Superior, WI, Robert E. (Maurine) of South Jordan, UT, and Michael E. (Margaret) of Chevy Chase, MD; twenty grandchildren with one on the way; seventeen great-grandchildren with two on the way; and a sister, Julia Baumgartner of Bemidji, MN.

He was preceded in death by his parents and three brothers, William, James and Robert.

His funeral service will be held on Saturday at 11:00 a.m. at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, 521 Upham Rd., Duluth, MN, with Bishop Donald Appleby presiding. Visitation will be held one hour prior to the service. Burial will be in Veterans Memorial Park, Greenwood Cemetery in Superior, WI, where Military Honors will be accorded by the Richard I. Bong American Legion Post #435.

Pallbearers will be his grandsons: Sean O'Neill, Joel O'Neill, James Downing, Trevor O'Neill, Nathan Downing and Daniel O'Neill.

If desired, the family has requested memorials be made to either the Disabled American Veterans or The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints Missionary Fund.
