John C. “Jack” Patnode, age 87, passed away Tuesday May 26th in his residence.

Jack was born May 4, 1939, in Superior to Marion (Kosek) and Captain Clifford G. Patnode. He attended school in Superior and graduated from Cathedral High School in 1957. Jack enlisted in the United States Army and was honorably discharged in May of 1960. After returning from the Army, Jack went into business with his father st Captain Cliffs Tavern. He also sailed on the Great Lakes for 10 years. Jack decided to change careers and go to school for meat cutting and he retired after 27 years in the business. Every winter he did deer processing and thoroughly enjoyed it. Jack married Kathy on July 15, 1983, and he inherited four children. He enjoyed bowling, playing golf and cards with his friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Patnode; wife, Kathy; daughter, Patty and his sister, Jean.

Jack is survived by his brother Pepper Patnode and sister Kathleen Kubicek; daughter Katy Pineda; sons, Jim, Tim, and Mike; he had many grandchildren and great grandchildren. Also many nieces and nephews.

He was a member of the Eagles Club in Superior and was active at St. Francis Xavier Catholic Church.

Visitation will be held on Friday June 5, 2026, from 1:00 pm until the 2:00 pm Memorial Service in the Downs Life Celebration Center, 1902 N 34th Street, Superior, with the Very Rev. Fr. James Tobolski officiating.
