Obituary

John R. Madsen, 59, of Lake Nebagamon, died Tuesday, September 21, 2021, surrounded by his family.

John was born in Superior on Mar. 23, 1962, the son of John H. and Jean (Westlund) Madsen. He married Jennifer Berg on April 2, 1992.

He earned a degree in Welding from WITC. He worked various projects in construction. John had a high mechanical aptitude and enjoyed working with his hands.

He loved being in the woods, trout fishing on the Brule, hunting bear, deer, and grouse with his three sons, and riding his 4-wheelers. He was proud of his daughter who he raised to be strong, resilient, and kindhearted. He looked forward to hosting football parties, BBQs, and movie nights with his family. John paid attention to detail and enjoyed keeping things up on his property.

John and Jennifer had been together since they were 16. To say he loved her more than anything was an understatement. He enjoyed taking her on dates and always set a great example for his kids. Spending time with his family was most important to him, especially his children.

He was preceded in death by his brother James Madsen; infant sister, June; maternal grandparents, Ernest and Emelia Westlund; paternal grandparents, John & Harriet Madsen; and nephew, Andrew Berg.

John is survived by his wife, Jennifer; parents, John and Jean Madsen of Superior; children, Ryan Madsen of Lake Nebagamon, Nathan (Jessica) Madsen of Duluth, Robin Madsen of Superior, and Joshua Madsen of Lake Nebagamon; grandchildren, Kimberley Marie and Jaxon John; and sister, Jane Routh of South Range.
