John "Jack" Steven O'Brien, 86, of Superior, passed away Tuesday, Sept. 22nd with family by his side.
He is joining his beloved wife of 63 years, Shirley; parents, Thomas and Alita (McKenzie) O'Brien and his brother, Don.
He is survived by sons, Mark, Tom (Ann), Mike (Sharie), Scott (Shawn), Pat (Kristi); daughter, Cheryl (Jack) Pillsbury; twin sister Dorothy Mahoney, brother-in-law, Robert "Punky" Anderson. He and Shirley's grandkids were their pride and joy: Jamie, Cena, Dustin, Alexis, Aaron, Kaitlin, Jess, Amy, Eric, and Jordyn; great-grandkids Ryan and Cameron; many nieces, nephews, cousins, in-laws, friends and their beloved dog, Miley.
Jack worked for the City of Superior for 41 years. He was involved for many years in coaching and umpiring baseball. He loved following football and baseball. Jack's other "family" includes the boxing community of the Twin Ports. He truly loved giving his time and sharing his talents with his boxing family. Jack's family would like to thank them for being so good to Jack and Shirley over the years.
They would also like to thank Darla Maez, who was Jack's caregiver in his final year, but also became a friend to Jack and the family.
The family will be having a celebration of life on Sunday, October 18th from 1-3 p.m. at the Billings Park Civic Center.
In lieu of flowers, a donation to the Alzheimer's Association or to the Jungle Boy Boxing Gym is greatly appreciated.
