John Allen Shafstall, 73, of Solon Springs, WI, died Sunday November 15, 2020 at Essentia Health-Superior.

He was born July 26, 1947 in Rockford, IL, son of John and Roberta (Cater) Shafstall.

On December 2, 1967 in Waukegan, Illinois, John Shafstall and Carol Mackey were united in marriage.

John proudly served his country with the U.S. Army in Vietnam, from 1967 to 1969. He was awarded many medals including two bronze stars and a purple heart.

He worked many years as a police officer in Rockford, Illinois, and in a foundry before his military disability.

Some of his interests included music and working in his garage on automobiles and motorcycles. He especially enjoyed when his granddaughter would help him in the garage.

Preceding him in death were his parents; and son, Jeremy.

Survivors include his wife of almost 53 years, Carol; sons, John (Gena) Shafstall, Plymouth, WI, and James (Becky) Shafstall, Washburn, WI; daughter, Jennifer (Jeff) Little, Poplar, WI; daughter-in-law, Sandra Shafstall, Plymouth, WI;  grandchildren, Alyssa, Jeffery (Nicole), Tyler, Tre, Jasmine, Irene, Elsa, Sophie and Jocelyn; great-grandsons, Skyler and Declan.

A celebration of life will be held at a later date.
