John P. Shykes, 62, of Superior, died Monday, August 16, 2021, at Essentia Health-St. Mary's in Duluth.

He was born March 4, 1959, in Superior, the son of Jean (Mottram) and Wayne Shykes.

John worked with his father as a milkman at Shykes Distributing.

He was a simple man who loved his boys, a good recliner, and watching T.V. He was always the class clown and enjoyed making those around him laugh. John also loved his horses and taking care of the hobby farm.

John was preceded in death by his parents, and a sister, Cheryl Youngberg.

He is survived by his sons, John Wayne (Brittany) Shykes of Superior and Sean Lee (Nhika) Shykes of Houston, TX; grandchildren, Landen, Journey, and Jayla; sister, Laurie Johnson of Osceola, WI; brothers Jeff Shykes of Sun City, AZ and Tony Shykes of St. Cloud, MN; and many nieces and nephews.

A celebration of life is planned for Sunday, August 29, 2021 at Barkers Island Inn from 2:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m.
