John K. Torzewski, 67, died peacefully Wednesday, January 31, 2018, at his Residence.

John was born in Wausau, WI on Jan 30, 1951, the son of Kenneth and Delores Torzewski.

He graduated from Mosinee High School and then earned his Master's Degree from the University of Wisconsin, Superior.

John was a lifelong educator and coach. He taught special education and physical education at Northwestern High School, Duluth School District, and East Central High School. He deeply impacted and touched many lives while coaching football. He coached the East End Packers, Northwestern HS, Duluth East, Morgan Park and Superior HS. He was Head football coach at Duluth Central and also coached at UW Superior.

John's greatest joy in life was his sons and being a part of their lives. He enjoyed watching them grow up and was proud of who they are today. He also loved spending time with his grandchildren. His favorite place to be was at the cabin, where he enjoyed fishing, chopping wood, and most importantly, having his family and friends there. He enjoyed listening to music, especially the Beatles and Bob Dylan. John was a natural storyteller and loved to make people laugh.

He was preceded in death by his mother, Delores and his father and step-mother, Kenneth and Doris Torzewski.

John is survived by his sons, Andrew (Korina) Torzewski of Washington, D.C. and Geoffrey (Monika) Torzewski of Chicago, IL; grandchildren, Sky, Martin, and Mira; sister, Mary (Jerry) Fochs of Mosinee, WI; former wife, mother of his children, and friend, Deborah (Dan) Woods of Superior; and many nieces and nephews.

Visitation will be held on Monday, Feb. 5 ^th from 3:00 – 6:00 p.m. at Downs Funeral Home, 1617 N 19 ^th St. A time of remembrance will be held at 5:30 with Gary Banker as officiant. A reception will follow at V.I.P.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the family.
