John G. Trautt, 91, of Superior, Wis. died Monday, May 10, 2010 in Villa-Marina Health & Rehabilitation Center.
John was born June 3, 1918 in Akron, Iowa and had been a longtime Superior resident.
He was an Army veteran having served his country during WWII.
He was employed by Superior National Bank for sixty-eight years, starting out as a janitor and retiring as vice president.
John was a deeply religious man and was a member of St. Francis Xavier Catholic Church. He was a sixty year member of the Knights of Columbus.
John enjoyed golf although his greatest love was for his family.
He is survived by a daughter, Debbie (Mike) Duffy of Superior; a son, Greg (Carol) Trautt of Colorado City, Colo.; grandchildren, Carrie (Zach) Shockman, Peggy Huckabee, Jean (Fred) Oseko, Matt Duffy, Pat (Carrie) Duffy, and Zach (Kera) Trautt; ten great-grandchildren; a daughter-in-law, Judy (Dick) Lyons of Maple, Wis.; two brothers, Edward and Art Trautt both of California; and many nieces and nephews.
John was preceded in death by his beloved wife of sixty years, Jessie; a son, Tim; and ten brothers and sisters.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Friday, May 14 at 1:00 p.m. in St. Francis Xavier Catholic Church with Rev. Fr. James Tobolski as celebrant. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service and burial will be in St. Francis Cemetery. Military rites will be accorded by the combined Thomas F. Stein VFW Post # 1091 and the Richard I. Bong American Legion Post #435.
Pallbearers will be his grandchildren and a great-grandson, Jacob Huckabee.
If desired, memorials may be made in John's name to St. Mary's Hospice or Cathedral School.
