Joseph A. "Joe" Zawin, 61, of Superior, passed away Tuesday, May 3, 2016, at his home.
He was born November 21, 1954 in Superior, son of Alphonse and Lucille (Cushway) Zawin.
Joe retired from the Burlington Northern Railroad and like to collect old railroad relics. He also worked part time as a custodian at Mike's Place.
Joe proudly served his country with the U.S. Army in Germany.
He loved helping others doing remodeling, painting and building decks. He enjoyed hunting and fishing with family and friends, and of course the competition of who got the biggest fish, deer, or the most grouse! He loved camping and would be the builder and guard of rather large campfires! Although not a golfer, he enjoyed golf tournaments with his friends from Mike's Place. He just liked having a good time and joked about getting "the boys in the band" back together.
Greeting him in heaven are his wife, Julie; parents, Alphonse and Lucille; brother, Chuck Staeben; sister, Bonnie Couture; brother-in-law, John Couture; and niece, Tammy Couture.
Survivors include his sister, Linda (Steve) Burke; nephews, Tom Burke, Skip (Angie) Couture and family, Mark (Roxie) Couture and family, and Greg Fair; and grand-nephew, Trevor Fair.
A celebration of life will be held from 3 until 5pm at the Superior Moose Family Center on Thursday, May 12, 2016.
A private committal service will be at Greenwood Cemetery, Superior, at a later date.
