Obituary

Tony Harris died Dec. 22 after a protracted illness.

Tony turned 75 on Nov. 23 and one of his cakes had a slot machine on it as playing the slots was a real passion for him. For many years, Tony was an avid golfer, bowler and fisherman, although there might have been more beer drinking than fishing at times. Tony bartended for many years at several North End bars. He was known for being efficient, fair and for his sense of humor. He had a wide circle of friends. He was also a terrific cribbage player. Masochistic in his choice of sports teams, he was loyal to the Vikings, Wild and Brewers.

His parents were Robert Harris and Veronica McGuire Harris. His brothers were Robert and Mike who have also passed. He is survived by his brother, Richard (wife Jackie) of Muncie, Ind.

He was preceded in death by his longtime partner, Marie Mankoski. Her son, Corey, was very much a son to Tony. Corey, and his girlfriend, Sandy Stuart, were his absolute best friends who shared their love and friendship through good and bad times. We should all be blessed with friends like them.

Special mention is due to the wonderful staff of Golden Living Health Care facility of Superior, and Dr. David Arvold and the staff of St. Luke's Hospital in Duluth. Dar and the good folks at Who's Bar were always extra nice to him.

A memorial service along the shores of Lake Superior will be held this spring.
