Joseph Dennis Deneweth, 98 of Superior, WI died on Wednesday, December 14, 2022, in Essentia St. Mary's Medical Center.

He was born on July 31, 1924, to Victor and Julia Deneweth in Superior, WI.

Joe was World War II Army Veteran serving from 1944-46.

He was employed as a Tugboat Captain working out of the Duluth/Superior port, retiring in 1988 from North American Towing.

Joe was a member of Holy Assumption Catholic Church in Superior.

He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Florence; his sisters, Irene Davidowski and Emily Mattson; his brother, Charles and Henry Deneweth and numerous other relatives.

Joe is survived by his sister in-laws, Patty (Thomas) West, Sandy Nordquist, and numerous nieces and nephews.

Visitation will begin at 10:00 am until the 11:00 am Funeral Service on Wednesday, December 28, 2022, at Downs Funeral Home, 1617 N 19 ^th Street, Superior.  Fr. Andrew Ricci will officiate.

Military honors accorded by the Richard I. Bong American Legion Post #435.

Burial will be in the spring at St. Francis Cemetery in Superior.
