Joseph A. Ripley, 76, of Iron River and formerly of Superior, died Wednesday, July 20, 2011 at his residence.
He was born July 13, 1935 in Washington, son of Joseph and Blanche Ripley.
Joe was a career truck driver. For over 40 years, he logged over 2 million miles having driven in all 50 states. He owned a grocery distribution business in Alaska and most recently drove for Common Health Warehouse, Superior.
He served his country in the U.S. Air Force.
Some of his interests included woodworking, reading, cars and trucks, and traveling.
Preceding him in death were his parents; 2 brothers, Donald and Merlin; and 2 sisters, Alice and Shirley.
Survivors include 4 daughters, Teresa (Craig) Heberer, Oceanside, California, Brigid Ripley, Brooklyn, New York, Helena Ripley, Superior and Melanie Ripley, Biddeford, Maine; son, Joseph Ripley, Iron River; 2 granddaughters, Marina and Liana Heberer, Oceanside, California; brother, Stanley (Riva) Ripley, North Pole, Alaska; and nieces and nephews.
A memorial service will be held at his residence in Iron River, Tuesday, July 26, 2011 at 8 a.m.
Downs Funeral Home, 1617 N. 19th Street, Superior, is assisting the family with arrangements.
