Obituary

Juanita E. Smith, 86, of Superior, died Sunday, December 24, 2017, at Middle River Health and Rehab Center.

Juanita was born on Oct. 18, 1931, in Pismo Beach, California the daughter of Raymond and Stella Ford.

She had worked for the Superior School District as a cook for over 30 years with 22 years at Four Corners.  She had also worked at the Patio and Chef's Café.

Juanita was very active in the PTA joining in 1956 in Hawaiian Gardens, CA at Bloom Field Elementary. She was the Founding President of Nemadji – Patzau PTA and held a lifetime membership. She had been a Den mother for the Cub Scouts for 10 years and received a District Merit of Honor.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband of 53 years, Walter 'Bud' Smith in 2013; brothers, Ronald and Raymond Ford; granddaughter, Meghan Smith; and her first husband, Marlin Orr.

Juanita is survived by her sons, Roy Orr of Duluth, Raymond Orr of Superior, and Martin (Tina) Smith of Duluth; grandchildren, Dennis Orr, Christopher (Melissa) Orr, Benjamin Smith, and Caleb and Connor Smith-Gronski; great-grandson, Brando Orr; sister, Mary Leanse of Las Vegas; sister-in-law, Shirley Ford of Bellflower, CA; and many nieces and nephews.

Visitation will be held on Wednesday, Jan 3, 2018, from 10:00 a.m. until the 11:00 a.m. funeral service at Darrow Road Wesleyan Church. Rev. Mark Holmes will officiate. Interment will be in Greenwood Cemetery Soldiers Memorial Square.
