Julie Ann
Halom
October 12, 1952 – November 30, 2023
Julie Ann Halom was called home by our Lord Jesus Christ on November 30, 2023. She fought the good fight against lymphoma for ten years, passing away at St Luke's Hospital in Duluth, MN.
Julie was preceded in death by her parents, Stephen Ames and Laverne (Gundrum) Ames.
She is survived by her husband Gary Halom of Iron River, WI and their three children and their spouses: Erik and Regan Halom of Gig Harbor, WA; Kaitlyn Halom of Lynnwood, WA; and Kyle and Abby Halom of Lake Nebagamon, WI. She is additionally survived by her siblings and their spouses: Russell Ames of Oldsmar, FL; Roy and Mary Ames of Sturgeon Bay, WI; Janice and Brad Lamers of Brookfield, WI; and Ellen and Dan Hintz of Sussex, WI. She is also remembered by her sister-in-law Stacy Meyers Ames, and numerous nieces and nephews.
After graduation from West Bend High School in 1971, she received a BS from UW-Madison and a Masters Degree from the College of St Scholastica. Julie was a highly respected Occupational Therapist in WI and MN, and a licensed member of the American Occupational Therapy Associations in both states. After 40 years, she retired as a Field Work Coordinator, and educator at The College of St Scholastica in Duluth, MN.
Outside of her professional life, Julie was a beloved mother and highly involved in her family and community. She was a member of the Superior PEO, she belonged to the Superior Jaycees, and she was instrumental in the success of the Sister City Commission of Superior with Ami Machi, Japan. Julie was an avid quilter and belonged to the community quilting group in Iron River. She attended Our Savior's Lutheran Church in Iron River, WI and St Francis Xavier Catholic Church in Superior, WI.
The visitation will be from 10 until the 11:00 a.m. Mass of Christian Burial, Thursday, December 7, 2023, at St. Francis Xavier Catholic Church. The Very Reverend Father James Tobolski will be the celebrant.
The burial will be at the Iron River City Cemetery at a later date.
