June M. Johnson's Obituary
June M. Johnson, 75, longtime resident of South Superior, passed away peacefully on Thursday, May 2, 2013. Junie was recently diagnosed with a very curable form of lymphoma, but was unable to overcome other health problems necessary to undergo cancer treatment. She died as she lived, surrounded by the love of her daughters.
June was born in Brule, Wisconsin on June 3, 1937 to Charles and Irene Johnson, the eighth of nine children. She attended school in Brule and graduated from Northwestern High School before moving to Superior to marry Jack and raise their girls. She was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister, auntie and friend who welcomed everyone into her home with an equal measure of love and compassion. Junie made friends wherever she went and rarely, if ever, had an unkind word to say about anyone. She was always interested in hearing what you had to say, and to offer help and encouragement whatever the circumstance.
To mourn her passing, Junie leaves behind her five daughters: Brenda (Don) Jahr, Lisa (Eric) Bonow, Pam (Pat) Nelson, Michelle (James) Sanders, and DeeAnn Shaffer, all of Superior; eleven grandchildren, Matthew, Adam & Brian Quam, Kristen & Kevin Jahr, Jared, Liana & Paige Akervik, Kaitlin & Joseph Sanders, and Alyssa June Nelson; three great-grandchildren, Olivia, Aubrielle and Chloe; one sister Evelyn Culhane of Brule and one brother, Melvin (Mary Ann) Johnson, Superior; brother-in-law, Jim Archambeau; special friend Tom Benson; and many extended family members and friends.
June was proceeded in death by her husband of 43 years, Jack, who passed away on June 25, 2002; her parents Charles and Irene Johnson; brothers, Eugene, Howard and Leslie Johnson; sisters, Dorothy Alholm, Deloris Korhonen, and Carol Archambeau.
A service to celebrate Junie's life will be held on Monday, May 6, 2013 at Pilgrim Lutheran
Church, 820 Belknap Street, Superior, at 11:00 A.M. with visitation one hour prior. She will be buried next to her loved ones at the Everrest Cemetery in Waino, Wisconsin, with her grandchildren serving as honorary pallbearers.
