June Rosemary Nitz, 81, was called home to the Lord on Sunday, Feb 8, 2015 after a brief illness at Essentia-St. Mary's Hospital in Superior.
June was born on June 9, 1933 the daughter of Lindsey and Emily Barter, Sr.
She had been employed by St. Mary's Hospital in Superior and worked as a caregiver/companion in Superior and Ridgeland, WI.
She was an avid gardener and houseplant enthusiast. She enjoyed crocheting, crossword puzzles, and reading. She was also a Green Bay Packer Fan. She was an animal lover and until recently her cat, Spooks, was her constant companion. She loved visiting with family and reminiscing about her life at "The Farm" in Luck, WI.
June was a lifelong Wisconsinite, born in West Allis, WI, moved with her family to Luck, WI, and lived in Superior and Ridgeland, WI.
She was strong in her faith and proudly sober for over 40 years.
June was preceded in death by her beloved parents; husbands, Wilfred Nitz and Lee Sexton; brothers, Ronald and James Barter.
She is survived by her daughters, Roxane (Michael Mikloczak) Boutin of Superior, Yolanda Eliason of Superior; grandchildren, Matthew (Jennifer) Mikloczak, David Mikloczak, Christopher (Julie) Boutin, Jason Boutin, Tina (Bill Nelson) Eliason, Rob (Melanie) Eliason, Patrick (Olivia) Eliason and Eric (Amy) Eliason; thirteen great-grandchildren and one great-great-granddaughter; brother, Lindsey (MaryAnn) Barter, Jr., and several nieces, nephews, and cousins.
Her funeral service will be held on Thurs., Feb 12, at Noon at Downs Funeral Home, corner of 19th St. and Ogden Ave. Rev. Fr. Andrew P. Ricci, Rector of Cathedral of Christ the King Church, will officiate. Visitation will begin one hour prior. Burial will be at a later date in Lakeside Cemetery, Hertel, WI.
