Karen J. Cristilly, 86, of Superior, died Saturday, February 8, 2025, at Essentia-St. Mary's Hospital in Duluth.
Karen was born in Superior on October 28, 1938, the daughter of Kenneth and Jean (Hansen) Johnson.
She had worked for many years as a custodian in the Maple School District and for Mission Covenant Church.
Karen was passionate about the outdoors, hunting, fishing, and camping. She talked about her father bringing her and her siblings to the Gunflint Trail when they were young, and it has been a favorite place of hers ever since. It became a favorite place of her kids and grandkids too. Karen was very active in her church community for years. Her faith and family were everything to her and she was happiest when surrounded by her grandchildren and great grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Louis 'Chris' Cristilly; son and daughter-in-law, Bradley and Lorna Cristilly; brother, Kent Johnson; and twin sister, Kay (David) Holmes.
Karen is survived by her son, Kirk (Babette) Cristilly; grandchildren, Brianna (David) Hofstrand, Ethan Cristilly, Forrest (Kerrigan) Cristilly, Shaina (Jade) Gehl, Mariena (Jordan) Kruit, Dalton Cristilly, Mackenna Cristilly; and siblings, Carol (Edward) Moniot, Kimberly (Jake) Lozon, and Scott (Donna) Johnson.
Visitation will be held on Saturday March 8th from 10:00 a.m. until the 11:00 a.m. memorial service at Mission Covenant Church, 5161 County Rd P, Poplar, with Pastor James Walsh as officiant.
