Karen S. Heifner, 68, of Superior, died Friday, July 12, 2019 at Essentia-St. Mary's Hospital in Duluth.
Karen was born in Oakland, California on October 8, 1950, the daughter of Kenneth and Treva Hamilton.
She married Wes Heifner on August 16, 1968 and they celebrated 51 years of marriage.
She had worked for 48 years at St. Mary's in Duluth. She had worked as a nursing assistant for many years and most recently a Health Unit Coordinator.
Karen was a very active member of Country Peace Presbyterian Church and a member of the Red Hat Society. She enjoyed sewing, making crafts, and playing cards with her friends. Most important to her was her family, especially her grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents and sister, Ramona.
Karen is survived by her husband, Wes; daughter, Heidi (Troy) Hanson of New Prague, MN; grandchildren, Corrine, Claire, and Ian; and brothers and sisters, Ken (Marianne) Hamilton, Shirley (Fran) Bishop, Karla Nichols and Keith (Jan) Hart.
Visitation will be on Thursday July 18, from 11:00 a.m. until the Noon funeral service at Country Peace Presbyterian Church. Rev. Mark Holmes will officiate. Burial will be in Greenwood Cemetery at a later date.
