Karl F. Malmquist, 87, of Superior, died Saturday, May 19, 2018 at St. Luke's Hospital in Duluth.

Karl was born in Superior on Feb. 18, 1931 the son of Carl and Emma Malmquist.

He had worked as a welder for many years at US Steel. He also was a painter. He enjoyed fishing, socializing at Gronk's and playing pool.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Patricia; son, Carl T. Malmquist; grandson, Stephen Wieczorek; and brothers and sisters, Richard, Yvonne, Darlene and Leonard.

Karl is survived by his daughter, Patricia Ann (Sonny) Malmquist of Springfield, MO, granddaughter, Cheryl (Jason) Gress of Lake Villa, IL; great-grandchildren, Kaitlyn, Amber, and Aaron; sister, Joan (Rolland) Plunkett; and step-son, Dwight Holmes.

Visitation will be held on Wed., May 23 from 1:00 p.m. until the 3:30 memorial service at Downs Funeral Home, 1617 N 19 ^th St. Burial will be in Calvary Cemetery.
