Kathie Marie (Coon) Beckwell, 68, a lifelong Superior, Wis. resident, died Thurs., Oct. 31, 2013, at Essentia Health-St. Mary's Hospice in Duluth, Minn.

She was born on May 9, 1945 to Ruby (Yeazle) and Floyd Coon.

On July 15, 1961, Kathie married James Beckwell in Carlton, Minn. and they celebrated fifty-two years of marriage this summer.

She worked for many years as a cook at various establishments, most notably, the former Chaffey Nursing Home. She retired in 2007 from Target as a pharmacy associate.

Kathie loved cooking. She was an avid bingo player, loved to tell stories and enjoyed watching the Green Bay Packers as well as watching NASCAR. Her favorite way to spend her time though, was with her husband, son, and grandchildren.

Kathie is lovingly remembered by her husband, James C.; a son, James A. Beckwell; two grandchildren, James Charles Beckwell and Courtney Marie (Casey) Birk; a sister, Maureen Pederson all of Superior; and many nieces, nephews and cousins.

She was preceded in death by her parents; a sister, Darlene Eccles; a brother, Floyd; and many aunts, uncles and cousins.

Her memorial service will be in Downs Funeral Home, corner of Ogden Ave. & 19th St., on Tues., Nov. 5th at 1:00 p.m. with Rev. Sarah Kerkes, pastor of Our Savior's Lutheran Church officiating. Visitation will begin one hour prior to the service.
