Kathleen A.
Bauers
July 7, 1939 – December 20, 2025
Kathleen "Kay" Ann Bauers, 86, of Duluth, Minnesota, passed away peacefully on Saturday, December 20th, 2025, following a five-year brave battle with ovarian cancer.
Kay was born on July 7, 1939, in Superior, Wisconsin, the daughter of Bernard and Berenice (Christie) Dower. She married Ronald "Ron" Bauers on April 25, 1959. Kay and Ron shared 64 years of marriage before his passing in 2024.
After graduating from East High School, Kay dedicated herself to being a homemaker, raising her three children. Throughout the years, she enjoyed bowling, served as a Girl Scout leader, and loved traveling and camping with her family. Later in life, she returned to the workforce and was employed at the Duluth Entertainment Convention Center (DECC), where she served as Ticket Office and Guest Services Manager. Kay was a devoted Catholic and a longtime member of St. James Catholic Church in West Duluth.
Kay's children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren were the highlight of her days. Forty-three years ago, she proudly claimed the name "Grandma B," a title that stuck for years to come. It was not uncommon to find her cheering from the sidelines or attending a play or concert of her grandchildren or great-grandchildren. While living in West Duluth, Sundays often meant the driveway and street were lined with cars for the traditional "Sunday at Grandma's." Kay lived a life of service if someone needed something, she would be there the next day with it in hand. She was endlessly supportive, always encouraging others to give their best.
Kathleen was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Ron; and her sister, Barbara Hossalla.
She is survived by her children, Jill (Gary) Anderson, Gary (Renee) Bauers, and Amy (Tim) Lussier; grandchildren, Sara Schubert McKone (John McKone), Derek (Kelsey) Schubert, Kevin (Jena Marsala) Schubert, Tyler (Lyndsey Burud) Schubert, Jamie Anderson (Devin Gosse), Megan (Nathan) Yolitz, Zach (Alyssa) Bauers, Allie (Logan) Talarico, Cody Heikes, Kyle Heikes, Zarya (Kenny Moinichen) Lussier and Carter Lussier; 18 great-grandchildren; an AFS foreign exchange student Firdevs (John) Robinson and her sons, Tom and Tim (Ellina) Robinson. Kay is also survived by sister, Mary Lou (Dennis) Telega; and brother, William (Darlene) Dower and many nieces and nephews.
Visitation will be held Tuesday, December 30, 2025, from 10:00-11:00 a.m., followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 11:00 a.m. at St. James Catholic Church, 715 N 57th Ave W, Duluth, MN, with Fr. James Bissonette officiating. Burial will follow at Oneota Cemetery.
Arrangements have been entrusted to Downs Life Celebration Center, 1902 N 34th St, Superior, WI.
